ALL-TIME CLASSIC MOVIE FAVOURITES – STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE (1979)

“Star Trek: The Motion Picture” is a Sci-Fi Action Adventure based on Gene Roddenberry’s original creation, screenplay written by Harold Livingston, story by Alan Dean Foster and Directed by Robert Wise.

Much to the displeasure of Captain Decker (Stephen Collins), Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) resumes command of the USS Enterprise which had been undergoing a major overhaul in the drydock orbiting Earth.

He was ordered to take command in order to intercept a massive alien spacecraft of enormous power which has already destroyed three powerful Klingon cruisers and the Epsilon IX space station on its way to Federation Space and is now heading towards Earth.

It has been three years since Kirk last went into deep space but the Enterprise is the only Starship in range of the Alien so Kirk rounds up the rest of his old crew, Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Scotty (James Doohan), Sulu (George Takei), Chekov (Walter Koenig), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) and Dr. Chapel (Majel Barrett) and acquires some new members as well, in particular Ilia (Persis Khambatta), but after three years behind a desk is Kirk up to the task of saving Earth?
